Alpha Squad: The Complete Collection
A Bear Shifter Paranormal Romance
Alpha Squad, #1-4
by Lorelei Moone
Publication Date: September 22nd 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Shifters, Boxed Set

BLURB(S)
It has only been a few months since humanity found out about the various shifters that live among them. This brave new world is not without its challenges; neither for the humans or the shifters. Alpha Squad is formed to help law enforcement agencies deal with shifter related matters, and not a moment too soon! Follow the brave men and women of the squad as they try to come to terms with their new reality, catch criminals and find love along the way.

Boot Camp Bear shifter Eric King is asked to join Alpha Squad; a task force meant to promote cooperation between shifters and humans in law enforcement, but there are problems: Is Alpha Squad even a serious initiative? And how will he focus on his training when his inner bear insists that the squad leader is his mate?

Friends & Foes Alpha Squad has received its very first assignment and bear shifter Adam King is excited to jump head-first into the action. Upon investigating a string of seemingly shifter related murders, he finds himself torn between his job and the local police’s main suspect; Felicity Weir; female bear shifter and Adam’s fated mate…

Infiltrator For the past six months, Thomas Blackwood has been serving two masters: he’s been an active part of Alpha Squad, but only on his old alpha’s say-so. When he finds himself stuck in between two sets of clashing orders, he must make a choice: who does he truly serve? And what would the woman of his dreams, Private Callahan, think of him if she knew he was a traitor?

Showdown Upon joining Alpha Squad, bear shifter hybrid Sean McMillan realizes there’s a lot more to being a shifter than occasionally sprouting some fur. His first mission: a double murder. That shouldn’t be too hard for the experienced former police detective, but he didn’t count on coming across lab assistant Erin Reid who shows an unusual amount of interest in him. Strangely, the feeling is mutual…

Virtual Tour - Alpha Squad: Infiltrator (Alpha Squad, #3) by Lorelei Moone

Alpha Squad: Infiltrator
Alpha Squad, #3
by Lorelei Moone
Publication Date: May 19th 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Shifters
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ALPHA SQUAD: INFILTRATOR (Alpha Squad, #3) . . . Predictability with some twist and a few good turns . . .all in a quick package . . .

This was a quick read that I have been waiting on since Alpha Squad Friends or Foes. I could feel that there was something more there. I just was not sure what it was. Thomas had me from the first book in this series. I found him to be enthusiastic and easy going. Private Callahan was a rule follower, smart, and tough. She could assess a person pretty well. I found them to have a simple connection. I found that they worked well together. When the question of loyalties came in to play I was a bit on the fence. I was not sure which way Thomas would go. I was pretty confident in Private Callahan. Enjoyable read and good addition to the series.

Alpha Squad series:
Alpha Squad: Boot Camp – Alpha Squad, #1
Alpha Squad: Friends & Foes – Alpha Squad, #2
Alpha Squad: Infiltrator – Alpha Squad, #3

BLURB
For love or for honor? Sometimes being fated to each other just isn’t enough.

For the past six months, wolf shifter Thomas Blackwood has been serving two masters. He believes in Alpha Squad’s mission to help the newly outed shifter population integrate into human society, and has done his best to contribute to its success. At the same time, he’s been reporting on the squad’s activities to his alpha back home. But everything changes when the squad is sent in to investigate a string of crimes with a pack of renegade wolves right at the center of the case. Suddenly Thomas must choose: follow his alpha’s orders and kill the investigation before it even starts, or remain true to Alpha Squad’s calling and uncover the truth; whether it implicates members of his own species or not.

And that’s not even the worst part: the woman he’s been admiring from afar since joining the squad already doesn’t give him the time of day. What would Private Callahan think of him if she knew he was a traitor?

Private Jill Callahan has been doing her utmost to ignore the one Alpha Squad member who could turn her world upside-down: Thomas Blackwood. From the moment the handsome wolf shifter arrived on base, her emotions have been trying to get the better of her. So in the interest of maintaining her professionalism, she has been avoiding him completely.

When Blackwood starts acting suspiciously, and nobody seems to notice it but her, Jill no longer has that luxury. She feels compelled to investigate what’s really going on and if it ends in heartbreak, then so be it.

Jill and Thomas’s loyalties are tested when they realize why they haven’t been able to shake their attraction to each other. They’re meant for each other, but sometimes things just aren’t so simple. The mission – and the squad – must come first.

Join Alpha Squad in this steamy paranormal romance you won’t want to put down. If you like Alpha City by Bryce Evans or Bear Patrol by Scarlett Grove, then you will love the Alpha Squad Series by Lorelei Moone!

EXCERPT
Private Callahan.
The petite and quiet assistant to Major Williams was a constant influence on his mood. He couldn't explain quite how it worked, but every time Thomas caught a glimpse of her, his heart sang. If she inadvertently looked in his direction, his nerves surged.
If by chance she failed to cross paths with him on any given day, his day was essentially ruined.
He'd admired her from afar ever since his arrival on base all those months ago. It was a bit creepy, how fixated he was on her. Like a stalker, he watched out for her, and often caught himself when his eyes lingered on her just a bit too long for comfort.
At least nobody had suspected anything, except maybe the object of his desire herself.
Private Callahan had barely spoken a word to him in six months. She made sure never to come too near or be alone with him. Whenever he was around, she seemed to act as though he was infected with a dangerous disease. She wasn't all wrong, of course. Even though she was only human, her instincts had picked up on his obsession and as a result, she was always on defense with him.
He wasn't sure whether to be impressed by her keen intuition or feel slighted.
Still, no matter how frustrated he sometimes became by her standoffish behavior, he could not hold it against her for long. She remained ever-perfect; a brunette goddess without a single flaw. In his mind, she could do no wrong; it was him who was at fault. He’d brought all of this on himself by acting like a complete tool around her.
"Blackwood, report to Major Williams' office," a stern voice interrupted his thoughts. He looked up to find Eric King, the major's second-in-command, staring at him with his arms folded.
"I'll be right there," Thomas mumbled, while avoiding eye contact with the bear shifter, as was wolf custom when addressed by one's superiors.
For but a split second, he wondered what the major wanted to see him about. The second and much more pressing thing on his mind was whether Private Callahan would be in Major Williams' office. He hoped so.

Audio Virtual Tour - Alpha Squad: Boot Camp (Alpha Squad, #1) by Lorelei Moone

Alpha Squad: Boot Camp
Alpha Squad, #1
by Lorelei Moone
Narrated by: Audrey Lusk
Publication Date: March 21st 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Shifters

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ALPHA SQUAD: BOOT CAMP (Alpha Squad, #1) . . .  The secret has hit the world in a wave of panic and fear. The response form a task force aimed at controlling the fear and panic of humans, keeping the peace, and punishing those that can’t or won’t quite follow the rules. I loved getting a glimpse at some of the previous series couples/characters. I love that things continued to the next step with more love and more mating and more adventure.

Eric and Adam find that they are heading for a new world of adventure and love. Eric just never expected that he would be working so close to the one that would be his for life. Janine has been chosen to help with the leading of the Alpha Squad. She just never expected to find that she would have so much to gain or lose all in one assignment. This was wonderful shifter romance with action and revelations. Janine and Eric both learn somethings they did not in the beginning. If quick reads are what your looking for then stop right her and pick up Alpha Squad: Book Camp.  Up next we will she what Adam gets himself into.

The Narrator of . . . Review of . . . ALPHA SQUAD: BOOT CAMP (Alpha Squad, #1) . . .  Audrey Lusk had the perfect natural narration accent that transported you to the English countryside. She handled the various characters with clarity. It was easy to discern which character was speaking. I could determine male and female. The cadence was nice and time clean. I found a small issue with the editing of the audio. There was a hiccup in the reading, with repeated lines, late in chapter 2. Once past that issue things ran smoothly.

BLURB
It has only been a few months since humanity has found out about the shifters that live in their midst. When the New Alliance leadership asks Eric King to join Alpha Squad, a joint taskforce supposed to promote cooperation between the shifters and human authorities, his loyalty to the cause doesn’t give him any choice but to agree. But is the squad actually supposed to be relevant, or is it just an eyewash, set up by the new Secretary for Shifter Affairs to make himself look good? And how is he going to concentrate on his training, when his inner bear is insisting that the squad leader is his true mate?

Major Janine Williams is not at all pleased when she is ordered to set up Alpha Squad. The initiative is just a gimmick, meant to pacify the shifter community, plus none of her male colleagues had wanted the job. But when she starts getting to know her team, especially tough East London bear shifter, Eric, she starts to wonder if perhaps it will be possible to make this task force a success, so long as everyone works together. And so long as she can manage to keep her relationship with Eric strictly professional..

"Come in," Janine answered the knock on her door.
Individual assessments were an essential part of training, but she was dreading one in particular this time. Eric King.
Of course it was him who had decided to come in first. She held her breath as she observed him enter her office. His movements were much more stealthy and refined than she would expect from someone of his stature. Was it deliberate?
Either way, hopefully, she could get this conversation out of the way quickly, so that she could move on to the easier subjects.
"Take a seat," she offered.
Cadet King—she'd tried to force herself to think of him in those terms, even if it seemed wholly inappropriate—sat down. He made the substantial wood and leather chair in front of her desk look small underneath him.
Her heartbeat sped up against her will.
His eyes were fixed on her face as he folded his hands and waited for further instructions. Despite Callahan's observations as well as her own concerns, he had been quite comfortable taking orders all morning. Was it just an act?
"I have a few questions for you, and it's best if you are completely honest." Janine shuffled a few of the papers on her desk, pretending to look for the checklist she had prepared earlier. In reality, she was just trying to avoid eye contact.
"Of course, Ma'am."
His voice still affected her, perhaps even more so than the first time they'd spoken. He was so near and yet so unattainable. She could not wait for this torture to be over.
She glanced up into his eyes and immediately focused on the questionnaire again.
"Why are you here?" she started, folding her hands to resist the urge to fidget with the paperwork again.
"You called all of us in," Cadet King—Eric—answered.
Janine shook her head. Don't make this any more difficult than it has to be! "I mean generally. Why join Alpha Squad?"
He paused, stealing a glance downward, presumably at her lips. Her heart skipped a few beats, but she did her best to maintain the same steely expression.
You're mine, a voice said in her head. Was it a voice, though? It sounded more like a low growl. Janine readjusted one hand on top of the other and continued to stare straight at the bear of a man in front of her. Now she was truly losing it.
"As you will have read in my file, I've been involved in the New Alliance. I just want to make a difference, Ma'am."
And what a difference you've made already, Janine thought.
I'm here to claim you, the same voice in her head seemed to say. The hairs on her arms stood upright, tempting her to scratch herself, but she managed to resist the urge. Janine's eye twitched involuntarily. What was that voice?
"In your own words: what is the purpose of Alpha Squad? The mission statement, if you will…"
Eric continued to look at her directly, his expression as calm as could be.
"To aid the traditional law enforcement agencies in any shifter related matters."
Janine nodded and made a quick note in his file. "Let's drill down, shall we? In concrete terms, what are we here for?"
"For example, shifter on shifter or shifter on human crime. We could more effectively investigate the shifters in question. We would be a bridge between the shifter community and the human government."
Janine scribbled his response onto a further sheet of paper, rushing so much the end result was hardly legible. Still, if her previous interactions with this man were any indication, she wouldn't need the notes to recall his answers word for word. This conversation would get re-played and analyzed over and over during those moments when she lay in bed at night with sleep still eluding her.
Whether she liked it or not.
"Very good. So would you say you are here because you believe Alpha Squad will continue to let you make a difference?" As soon as Janine finished her question, she listened for his response, as well as any more comments from that weird imaginary voice she'd heard before.
"Yes. Absolutely." That was it. The other voice remained silent.
Janine glanced up at him briefly again. He sounded firm and determined, but there was something in his eyes that suggested that he was either hiding something or not completely convinced of his own answer.
Fair enough, neither was she. He talked the talk, though, and that was all that mattered for now.
She asked him a few more routine questions about his background, how he grew up, his skill set, and what he thought his strengths and weaknesses were, and that concluded the assessment. The mysterious voice seemed to have gone away by itself.
Her phone rang with impeccable timing.
"That's all, then. Excuse me," she said, gesturing at the phone.
Eric, no, Cadet King, nodded and started to get up while she lifted the receiver to her ear.
"Ma'am, the Secretary of Shifter Affairs is on the line for you. He wants an update on the Squad," Callahan explained.
"No problem. Put him through."
Janine watched as Eric left. That had gone pretty well, hadn't it? She hoped she'd been able to disguise her discomfort well throughout his assessment.
Meanwhile, a voice she'd previously only heard in the media answered the other line. "Major Williams? This is Oliver Teese. You are the officer in charge of Alpha Squad, am I correct?"
"Secretary Teese, this is unexpected! Yes, Sir, I am. Training has only just begun, though…”
"No matter, I was hoping to receive regular updates from you throughout training anyway. This initiative is important to me, so I expect to be kept in the loop."
Bloody brilliant. If Oliver Teese had his way, she would end up reporting on Alpha Squad's failures to General Stone while telling Teese stories about how she was doing the best she could. What could possibly go wrong?
"Anything I can do to help, Sir."
"Wonderful. Why don't you tell me about your initial impressions of the recruits," Oliver Teese said.
Janine rested her head in her hand. This was not how she liked to conduct her training. At least military men like Stone had a solid understanding of the unwritten rules and boundaries.
"As I said, it's still early days. We have a lot of work to do just for assessment purposes. I would be more able to report on the trainees' performance at the end of the first phase of boot camp," she explained.
Oliver Teese sighed at the other end. He was obviously not pleased with her answer.
"I don't need to remind you that you report to me now, do I? Alpha Squad was my project, and I intend to know what is going on with it."
Janine rolled her eyes. His project. "I understand, Sir. It's just that I have not even had the chance to individually assess each of the cadets yet. Reporting on their performance would be really premature."
"Fine. But I do hope I can count on you to check in as soon as you have something to of note to tell me, yes?" Teese insisted.
Janine ran her hand over her smoothly tied back hair. "Of course, Sir."
"All right then. I'll be waiting for your call." With that, Teese cut the connection.
At that very second, there was another knock on the door.
"Blackwood here. May I come in?" a voice asked.
"Just a moment," Janine responded, as she dialed Callahan's extension.
"Yes, Major?" the private answered.
"Could you get me a glass of water, please?" Janine put the phone down again and located Blackwood's grade sheet on her desk.
Between resisting her attraction to Eric and warding off intrusive questions from politicians, Alpha Squad was turning into an even bigger headache than foreseen. Not to mention that weird voice she'd heard.
And this was only day one.

Virtual Tour - Alpha Squad: Friends & Foes (Alpha Squad, #2) by Lorelei Moone

Alpha Squad: Friends & Foes
Alpha Squad, #2
by Lorelei Moone
Publication Date: April 7th 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Shifters

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ALPAH SQUAD: FRIENDS & FOES (Alpha Squade, #2) . . . Mystery, suspense, passion, sweet delight. This time around we have a big problem. Our hero, Adam, may just have to help put down his mate, Felicity. He knows deep down that she belongs to him and she could not be behind the attacks on humans. She determined to find out who was trying to frame her people for the attacks on the humans that were taking place so close to where there of unwanted shifters are located. Someone was out to get her and the shifters and make them pay for crimes they had no part in.

For Alpha Squad’s first real mission this one had the mystery and suspense that I was anticipating. There was a sense of danger, intrigue and connection. Adam and Felicity were cute together with the beast within and the humanity outside. This was a bit more intense that what I am used to getting from Moone. I loved that. I got more than I went into this read expecting. Great way to move forward with Alpha Squad series.

Alpha Squad series:
Alpha Squad: Boot Camp – Alpha Squad, #1
Alpha Squad: Friends & Foes – Alpha Squad, #2

BLURB
Alpha Squad has received its very first assignment and recruit Adam King is excited to jump head-first into the action. When the team arrive in the shifter refugee camp in Sevenoaks to investigate some attacks on the local population, the evidence seems clear: the attacker they are looking for is a shifter. And one in particular keeps popping up in suspicious circumstances; Felicity Weir, who works in the camp. There’s just one catch: Adam’s inner bear insists that Felicity is his mate. Now, he’s torn. How can he help make Alpha Squad’s first mission a success, when he can’t endanger the woman who appears to be their prime suspect?

Bear shifter Felicity Weir has been looking after the shifter refugees camping near Sevenoaks ever since they started streaming in from Europe some months ago. She is determined to serve, to help these displaced people build a new home and future for themselves. Then the attacks began and the mood in Sevenoaks grew more and more hostile toward these newcomers, and by proxy, against her. First it was livestock that turned up dead in the local villages, soon after, human victims started to turn up. All the evidence points toward the refugees, but Felicity cannot accept that one of her kind would be capable of such violence. She has no choice but to take matters into her hands and investigate the deaths herself.

With Alpha Squad and the local police hot on their heels, Felicity and Adam must join forces. Will they be able to prove her innocence before public opinion is irreparably poisoned against the shifters, and their chances for a happy future together are destroyed?

EXCERPT
Never before had Felicity believed that she needed anyone; not really. She had always handled her life, both professional and personal, on her own. Sure, she sometimes confided in her parents. In the past, she'd at times confided in her ex-best friend, Joy, but none of those interactions had made her feel anything like what she felt now with Adam.
The memory of their kiss was still fresh. She could still feel a tingle in the exact spot where his lips had touched hers. Their connection was intense. Not just because it was new, but because it was real. She'd felt the bond. She'd heard his thoughts and felt his feelings and felt at one with him.
It had come to an end much too soon.
"Ms. Weir, if you don't mind… I asked you a question!" Detective Nye insisted.
She shook her head and tried to focus. What question?
"I'm sorry?" she stammered.
"Why were you at the camp this morning?" the detective repeated himself.
Felicity frowned at him. Was he serious?
"For the same reason you were, I imagine?"
"I want to hear it in your own words," the man said.
She shook her head in disbelief. Was he being thick on purpose or what?
"I got a call about the fire, and I came as soon as I could. One of the families I work with, their youngest was stuck inside one of the classrooms. I did my best to get her out."
"The child is what, a wolf? Some other animal?" the detective asked.
Felicity was getting more and more frustrated. What sort of questions were these? "If you must know, shifters don't acquire the ability to transform until puberty. So technically she would be no different from any human child."
"And then?"
And then… The fire had blocked her exit; she feared certain death, but then Adam had arrived. Surely people would have seen all that? Why on earth ask all these daft questions?
"Adam got us out of the building."
"U-huh, Adam, you say. Adam King, member of Alpha Squad and bear shifter, just like you are, correct?"
"I suppose so," Felicity mumbled.
"Right." Detective Nye went quiet as he made some notes, presumably of her answers.
Felicity tried to compose herself, but instead, her anger flared up. How dare this guy waste her time as though she had done something wrong? And Adam, as well. He had saved them. Who the hell did this idiot think he was?
"Can I go now?" she said. "I'm assuming I'm not under arrest for trying to save an innocent four-year-old, right?"
Detective Nye smiled briefly, though it was obviously disingenuous. His eyes were too cold and calculating, making his attempt at a smile look more like a grimace.
"Good," Felicity said and walked off without acknowledging the man any further. She wasn't quite sure what his deal was, but he really had it in for her. The way he’d even attempted to twist the rescue of a young child from a fire into something negative. Obviously, this man had issues and prejudices against her kind that severely impaired his judgment.
