Zia…
His whispered words were everything I had ever wanted to hear. Everything I wanted to hear before I knew about Derrick and Theo. What he was saying was everything I needed, and a balm for my pain. The problem was I was getting this after the fact, and I didn't know if I could believe it. Believe it. You know you want to. "I can't. I can't do this." He nodded, but his forehead stayed pressed on mine. His thick lashes lay against his cheeks for a long moment as he closed his eyes. "I know, and I don't want to make things difficult. I just fucking miss you." Goddamn it. I knew I needed to step away. My knees had turned to jelly, and the warm rush between my thighs told me I was weak, and I really, really wanted him. Instead of stepping away though, I whimpered. Theo's breath caught in his throat. And instead of letting me go, instead of releasing my hand, he tugged me closer, his hands sliding up my thighs, then my waist. His thumbs traced over my ribs. He licked his lips. "Zia, I'm trying to let you go. I'm trying to do the right thing." "Then do it." "For both of our sakes, I wish I could." And then his lips were on mine, his tongue licking into my mouth, and God, it was as if molten lava were oozing out of me. The kiss was mostly teeth and tongues, a clash of apologies and anger, and hurt. Theo's hands were in my hair, angling me, kissing me deeper. I tugged futilely at his shirt. There were too many goddamn buttons. His hands tugged my blouse out of my skirt, and then he lifted the hem of the material. There were no words then. Just grunts, and whimpers, and moans. Before I knew what was going on, Theo had backed me up until the back of my knees hit the couch. And then we were falling down. Oh God. This was bad. This was very, very bad... but oh, so good. Better than anything I had ever felt in my life, and I was coiling toward the pure bliss of it. His hands were on my thighs, sliding up. He still continued to kiss me, and there was an intensity, an urgency to his movements. He made this muffled laugh-growl against my lips, and his fingers found the edge of my panties. He shifted the elastic aside and then moaned against me. Without taking his lips from mine, he muttered against me. "Wet. Fuck." Those two words telling me just how far his brain had devolved into caveman territory. And then he was sliding his fingers into me. Two of them. No preamble, no foreplay. And God, I loved every second of it. I didn't need the extras right now. I was already so keen, so on-edge, and everything about this was wrong, and dirty, and so hot. I just need him closer. I needed more. I needed— There was a loud banging at the door. Three sharp raps.

Excerpt:
“Get rid of her, or she comes with us.” “I’m not going anywhere, buddy.” I jabbed him in the chest in an attempt to create more space. In close combat with this guy, I’d lose. Sure, I was faster and nimbler. But one good hit and I’d be down. His sharp, slashing brows drew down. “Suit yourself. I know what to do with someone like you.” I’d bet he did. And none of those things included me sleeping in my warm cozy bed tonight. “Babe, come on the royal family wants a photo.” Gray Eyes arched a brow. “Darling, you go ahead I’ll meet you there.” His voice was sin and bad decisions mixed together. I stood my ground. Now was no time for him to be noble. “Oh, I know King Sebastian insists.” “I’ll have to pass, love.” “Yeah, you heard him, he’ll have to —” He was talking and also raising his right arm. All I saw was the black gleam, and I acted, launching myself in the air and slamming against Gray Eyes. Toppling him over and covering his body with mine, tranq gun raised. Wasting no time, I squeezed twice. The asshole about to shoot at us was big. Who knew if two doses would be enough? But I was prepared to run. The muscle-bound brute fell to his knees. I rolled on my back, ready for anything. But I didn’t need to worry. Two hits with the tranq had done the job. I sucked in a shuddering breath. When I turned to my bed of muscles, he was glaring at me. “Do you have a bloody death wish?” His voice had lost some of the sin quality. It was colder, like he was pissed. I pushed to my feet. “What? You wanted me to let you go with that asshole? He was going to kill you.” “I promise you, I’m quite capable.”Unbelievable. “You could have fooled me. Men wielding weapons and shoving you into a car are generally bad news.” His gaze narrowed as he glowered at me. “I had it under control.” I crossed my arms. “Oh, so you're delusional. Okay then. Goodbye, crazy. And P.S. You're welcome.” “You generally only say thank you when you’re glad someone did something.” I shook my head. “For fuck’s sake. Next time I’ll let you die then. Pity. You look expensive, like someone would miss you, but it’s no skin off my back. I’ll just let the homicidal asshole kill you when he wakes up.” “You could have been hurt. Did you pay attention to what just happened?” “You mean besides me putting on a display of badassery the likes of which you’ve never seen? I also made this couture look damn good. Oh yes… and saved your ass.” “My ass didn’t need saving, princess.” “I’m not a princess, asshole. I’m a King’s Knight. I don’t need anybody to save me. Have a nice life.” As I strutted off, I flipped him the bird.

BOOK BLITZ w/REVIEW - Ransom (The Player, #5) by Nana Malone

Ransom
(The Player, #5)
by Nana Malone
Publication date: May 2nd 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Sports
Money, power, prestige…reject. Ransom Cox is —The Player.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . RANSOM (The Player, #5) . . . I did not thing I would find one of the guys that I would love as much as I did Fox or maybe a bit better. This one for me was a total slap-shot. A man lost, confused, reject, unwanted, or so he thought and felt. This one was just warm, intense, deep, sweet, gentle, sexy, exhausting. I loved getting to know Ransom and Lexa as individuals and together as they explored their chance at love together.

This series has a swift, sweet, alluring, intense, impact. Each new story brings something that must screams read me, enjoy me, share me. I must say that when Gage, The Player, #6 finally hits the waves. I am going on The Player series binge. I am reading them all (some again) from Bryce to Gage.

The Player series:
Bryce – The Player, #1
Dax – The Player, #2
Echo – The Player, #3
Fox – The Player, #4
Ransom – The Player, #5
Gage – The Player, #6

BLURB
His whole life, hockey player, Ransom Cox, has watched the people he loves the most reject and leave him. He’s learned it’s better to be on his own. After the scandal of his wife walking out on him right before the championships, citing his bedroom “over” prowess as the reason, he can’t seem to escape the spotlight. The last thing he wants is to be stranded in a cabin with the one girl he’s always wanted. The one girl who could destroy him.

EXCERPT:
Lexa coughed on the sip of water she’d taken. “Let’s get one thing clear. Ransom Cox has never noticed me. I lack the requisite equipment for him to pay appropriate attention. I’m not blonde. My rack isn’t overly endowed. Oh, and all he ever saw in high school was hockey. I was nerdy, and paid zero attention to anything other than great stories.”
“I have it on good authority that you paid attention to more than just your great stories and books. I know for a fact that you used to practice kissing on your hand and pretend it was Ransom.”
Lexa flushed. “Oh, my God. If you ever tell another living soul that, I will kill you. Kill you, dead. Forever.”
Her sister snorted and laughed even as she scooted out of the way of Lexa’s swats. “Think of your great story. I’m telling you. The man, the myth—”
Ella’s voice dropped away, and Lexa looked up, wondering what happened to her sister.
Oh, God. She gulped in a breath. The man, the myth, the penis legend. The hockey God. All six feet, five inches of ripped muscle, the movie-star face, and badass attitude. Standing in the doorway.
Lexa jumped up out of her seat. Too bad her foot was corded around her bag that she’d tucked under the desk, and she couldn’t get proper placement. And so down she went.
Ella ran in behind Ransom. “Oh, my God, Lex.”
Faceplant in front of the guy you always had a crush on, check. Total lack of career direction, check. Yes, her humiliation was complete. Next to her, Ransom’s deep baritone rumbled. “Are you okay?”
Lexa pushed herself to a sitting position. “Yeah, the only thing hurt is my pride, and my forehead. Pretty sure I scraped my hand, too.”
Behind Ransom, Ella’s jaw hung open. She held her arms about a foot apart, as if to indicate a certain…measurement, then cleared her throat as he picked up her wrist and examined it.
“I’m okay.”
Ransom studied her hand. “Are you sure? There’s no pain when I move it?”
Behind him, Ella grinned widely, a mischievous gleam in her eye.
Lexa wanted to die. Matter of fact, if the ground could just open up and swallow her now, that would be awesome. Come on ground. Any moment now. Nothing? Okay, then. “No. It doesn’t hurt.”
“Are you sure about that?” His voice was husky. Low. She’d seen him interviewed enough times in recent years to know that that was just his voice. He didn’t usually say much. But when he did, he always sounded like that. Like he’d just woken up from a long night of sex. Which was the last thing she needed to think about when dealing with Ransom.
Her sister, traitor that she was, called out. “Well, if you’re okay, I’m going to head back to the café. I’m sure the two of you have lots to catch up on. Lex, I’ll send someone over with a sandwich. And that recipe. Though, you might not want to use it for a while. All that garlic. Good to see you, Ransom.”
Lexa groaned. With one faceplant, she’d earned enough humiliation points with her sister for her to hand over that garlic aïoli recipe. Awesome.

BOOK BLITZ w/ REVIEW - Fox (The Player, #4) by Nana Malone

Fox
The Player, #4
by Nana Malone
Publication date: April 11th 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Sports
Money, power, prestige…washout. Fox Coulter is…the Player.
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . ALPAH SQUAD: FRIENDS & FOES (Alpha Squade, #2) . . . Quick simple and pretty much straight talk all the way. This was one of those friends-to-lovers that would have you turning pages. Fox and Sasha have had a friendship that has grown over the years. Each in their own way desiring the other. Neither willing to jeopardize their friendship for something that had no guarantees. I find that like Fox. It’s something about his interactions with Sasha that makes me feel happy.

I felt this one was more focused on the couple at hand and not the family interference. I enjoyed this one most of all. In earlier stories I was interested in Fox but not overwhelmed to have to have his story of love. I am very happy that I read this one. It has been by far the sweeter of the four.

The Player series:
Bryce – The Player, #1
Dax – The Player, #2
Echo – The Player, #3
Fox – The Player, #4
Ransom – The Player, #5
Gage – The Player, #6

BLURB
There is no Plan B for Fox. All he has is hockey. All he’s ever had is hockey. That and his best friend, Sasha. So when she’s up rent creek with no roommate, it’s Fox to the rescue. But, with the opportunity of a lifetime on the line will his hotter-than-sin-best friend be more of a distraction than his lucky charm?

Sasha Tenison believes everyone should have rules. Rules like:
· Don’t ogle your best friend while he works out shirtless. It doesn’t matter how many muscles or tattoos he has.
· Don’t fantasize about what he tastes like, even if it’s been years since anyone’s kissed you.
· Don’t sleep with your best friend just because he’s hot, sexy, and the only one to ever believe in you.
Breaking even one of these rules will ruin everything. But one toe curling kiss from Fox and she’s ready to change her name to Rule Breaker.

EXCERPT:
This is just a kiss. Fox’s thoughts swirled in his head. Liar.
He gently brushed his lips to hers. There was an immediate spark.
What the hell?
Instead of pulling back, Fox chased that spark. Sasha parted her lips in a gasp, his tongue sliding into the warm depth of her mouth, asking hers to play. When she stroked her tongue against his, he moaned. He couldn’t help it. He deepened the kiss while his hand slid from her jaw into her hair.
Sasha reached up, her arms winding around his neck. Her fingers teased the hair at his nape.
Oh, hell, Fox thought. This was not supposed to—
Sasha arched her back into the kiss, pressing her breasts firmly against his body, and Fox lost total control as he continued to chase the spark as if it were pulling her further and further into him. He dove headfirst into the abyss.
The two of them had just entered completely uncharted territory. It started from something silly. Now it was all too serious. He leaned her backwards, both of them shifting and sliding until she lay along the length of the couch, Fox over her, his hips nestled between her thighs. His lips never leaving hers.
His dick rested against her burning heat as he pressed against her, begging her to let him in. His mind sought any remaining shred of control, but it was long gone. Sasha, his best friend, tasted fucking incredible. He couldn’t help but gently rock his hips against her, and what do you know, Sasha widened her legs to give him more room.
He held himself slightly above her, so as to not crush her with his full weight. All the while she rocked her hips up, seeking more of him, and he couldn’t help himself. In the matter of a minute they had gone from friendly kissing to desperately pawing at each other and he slipped his hand under her tank top.
She’s so damn soft. I just want a taste of her belly button, and up along the bottom of her ribcage.
Sasha arched up as if inviting him. God, yes. He wanted to slide his hand up farther still, cupping her fullness in his palm. He wanted to see how well they fit together. The thought had been clawing at him for so long. The alarm bells blared, but the devil on his shoulder just shouted over the din. Go on. Cup her. You know you want to. She wants it too. She wants your hands on her. Your thumbs on her nipple. But somehow rationality prevailed, and he just barely managed to keep from sliding his palm up over her full curves.
It took his lips longer to get the memo though. When they finally did, they staged a small mutiny before he dragged them away from hers as gently as he could. He kissed along her jaw-line and had to force himself to sit up and back away…all the way over to the far side of the couch. Whatever the hell had happened here was very dangerous. Destructive.
He couldn’t live without Sasha, he needed her like he needed to breathe. He knew what he was like, so he wasn’t going to ruin this by taking it to a point of no return. He took her hand and tugged her into a sitting position.
“Now that’s how that dipshit should have been kissing you.” he said before settling back against the couch like she hadn’t just rocked his whole world upside down.

EXCERPT:
He knew where his mind should be. But that didn’t matter because right now it was filled with her, and how the scent of her clung to his skin. Someone that was supposed to be a one-night stand had somehow burrowed her way into his mind. Fine, whatever. He’d figure it out. He could find her again. How hard could it be?
Pulling on a pair of boxers, he looked around his apartment for any trace of her, but found nothing. No excuse to look her up to return something she forgot. If he wanted to see her again, he’d have to find her. And he was surprised by how strong that impulse was.
He’d hooked up a lot, but he’d never had a one-night stand that had gone quite like that. But then, he rarely woke during the night, and so he’d never taken the time to talk, like he had with Cece. Or maybe they’d overshared. He wondered if that was what had run her off so easily. He shook his head to force the thought aside. Not with what had happened between them after their little talk. He wouldn’t believe that they’d been able to connect so strongly physically, if the personal things they shared were what had made her run.
He’d never felt a connection like that before. Maybe her friend had dropped digits. If he couldn’t find her, that was it, he’d let it go. But he at least had to try.

EXCERPT:
The awkwardness stretched between them until Asha couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Well, goodnight then. I’ll see you around at work, I’m sure.”
“I’ll walk you out and get you a car out the back.”
“That’s not necessary. I’ll be—”
He shook his head, cutting her off. “You were seen with me out front. The paparazzi will be waiting.”
“Okay. Well, thank you.”
Dax ushered Asha to the back of the bar. As they shuffled through the crowd, the only thing she could feel was the warm press of his hand on her back as he guided her. Currents of electricity spread from that spot on her back to the rest of her body.
Holy hell, this was all kinds of inconvenient. Inconvenient is an understatement, honey. Her body was responding to him in a way that she’d never felt before, and it was more than inconvenient. More like a disaster. She’d felt the pull of attraction earlier today, and naïvely, she thought she’d be able to ignore it. Shove it under the rug. No such luck.
Dax was a professional athlete. That meant he went through women like Kleenex. And an uptight virgin was not going to get his attention for very long. Not like she’d intended to still be a virgin at twenty.
Okay, so maybe she hadn’t really done anything about that fact, either. She figured it would happen someday. But someday got replaced with studying, and doing everything in her power to gain her father’s love. She hadn’t really had time for boys.
Oh, and her brother was Damon Wix, so most guys avoided her, for fear he’d annihilate them.
At the back door, Dax spoke to one of the security guards, who then nodded and went outside.
“They’ll get you a cab, and let you know when it’s here.”
She blinked up at him and cleared her throat. “Thank you. You didn’t have to do the knight-in-shining-armor thing, but it’s appreciated.”
“Well, you were my dat—uh, meeting, person, thing, so…uh…” He sighed. “You came with me, so I’m making sure you get home safe. Look at me being the good guy.”
And just as soon as the sincerity was there, it was quickly driven out. Not to worry; now that she knew it was there, lurking under the surface, she knew she could get it back.
Luckily, the hallway wasn’t as crowded as the VIP area or the main club, but a mix of busboys, security, and wait staff ran back and forth at a quick clip. One of them bumped her, shoving her into Dax’s big body. Thanks to his quick reflexes, he steadied her in an instant, only for her to realize that her body was pressed against his like a plaster mold.
Dax stared down at her, his eyes going darker. More focused. His lips parted, and Asha couldn’t control the wild swing of her erratic heartbeat. Low in her belly, something hot and slick pulled at her, making her want…things. Things with him. Things she had no business wanting. Her nipples pebbled to hard peaks against his chest, as she fought for breath.
Luckily, she wasn’t the only one affected. Even as his pupils dilated, his breath came out in choppy spurts. When he finally spoke, his voice was low, rough. “Asha—” It was part question, part, I’m going to do very dirty things to you. Or, maybe that was just in her head.
He leaned his head down, and for a moment, Asha dared to breathe, dared to hope—
“Hey, Coulter, got that cab for you.”
In a flash, Dax set her away from him, and Asha’s head swam as she tried to focus. He licked his lips and took a very deliberate step back. “Let’s get you safely in a cab, yeah?”
Even as he shut the cab door behind her, Asha couldn’t help but wonder, what the fuck had just happened?

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.
