RECENT RELEASE EROTICA - WHIP SMART (Loft, #1) by Siena Noble Narrators Meg Sylvan & Everett Hwang

WHIP SMART
The Loft, Book 1
by Siena Noble
Narrators: Meg Sylvan, Everett Hwang
Length: 12 hours 40 minutes
Released: April 20th 2020
Publisher: Siena Noble
Genre: Erotic Romance

Escaping her past is hard. Falling in love is even harder...

Teresa Bodnar is desperate for a fresh start. Scarred by her relationship with her cruel, controlling, and so-called "dominant" ex, she escapes to her hometown of Pittsburgh. Determined to move forward, Tera makes a bold move: Founding the first club in the city to act as a safe haven where her most secret desires can be fulfilled.

But acting on those desires in the wake of the nightmare she left behind is something else entirely, especially when unexpected romantic entanglements complicate matters of business. Since the moment they met, the chemistry between Tera and easy-going Dominant Eric Yun has been undeniably scorching, yet Tera finds herself denying it at every turn. She has baggage to spare, and the high-strung submissive can't afford to take any chances where her budding friendship with the sweet and dangerously seductive Eric is concerned.

Yet Eric has baggage of his own, and the more he chips away at her walls, the more Tera realizes it's not just the drugging allure of his dominance that calls to her. She's falling for him hard and fast, but if life's taught her anything, it's that the harder the fall, the worse the pain - a pain she'd do anything to save Eric from. But the harder she resists their magnetic attraction, the faster her resistance seems to crumble...

Note: This is the first book in The Loft Series and ends on a cliffhanger to be resolved in book two.

Content Warning: This audiobook deals with issues of anxiety, depression, and healing from past abuse. It contains mentions of emotional/sexual abuse and suicide.

Audiobook - MACK (Black Mountain Pack series) by Miranda Lynn Narrator Brian Callahan

MACK

Black Mountain Pack, #1

by Miranda Lynn

Narrator: Brian Callahan

Length: 4 hours 25 minutes

Publisher: Miranda Lynn

Released: August 4th 2017

Genre: Paranormal Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . MACK (Black Mountain Pack Series) . . . Getting familiar with the Black Mountain Pack was fun. Taking part in the search for Casey. Feeling her fears while she knew someone was following her. Her learning who and what she was. This was engaging. The story was short and had much for Casey to learn. Her comprehension of the things around her and the new world she was now a part of. I would like to see what direction things go in now that the lost has been found and returned back home.

Narration of . . . MACK (Black Mountain Pack Series) . . . Brian provided strong vocal for the characters. Each with a distinct presence. I felt a bit off centered with Mack having the more dominating voice over the alpha of the pack, but I learned to cope with it and moved on. The audio was smooth and transition seamlessly between chapters. There were no audio hiccups. The audio was able to keep up with speed changed. The quality clear. This was the perfect length for an afternoon drive-around.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Miranda Lynn. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Audiobook Tour - Wired (The Solomon Brothers, #1) by Leslie North

    Wired
    The Solomon Brothers, #1
    by Leslie North
    Narrator: Rebecca Roberts
    Length: 3 hours 36 minutes
    SeriesRelease date: April 19, 2017
    Publisher: Relay Publishing2017
    Genre: Romance

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . WIRED (the Solomon Brothers, #1) . . . I just have one question who are the Solomon’s. I went through the whole book wondering who the Solomon Brothers were and here I am still wanting to know. That in no why hindered the enjoyment of this book. I loved getting to know the meaning behind wired. I loved the opening scene with Marcus stating his case and making that spectacular scene in the boardroom. This was something different for me and I liked it. Clare had a lot to prove and even more to overcome. She was a grieving woman with a brain. Her brain his brawn strength and determination helped her get her dream. This was a quick read that had depth and that little something different.

The narration of . . . WIRED (The Solomon Brothers, #1) . . . Rebecca Roberts did a good job with this one. The experience of Clare and Marcus in their own way. I was a bit thrown off by the Joe character and the slight contradiction on what I was hearing and sound. The sound quality was clean and clear of hiccups. Rebecca brought this book to life and allowed for a true almost real time feel of the action as it unfold. The quality of the recording allowed for the increase in speed without detracting from the basics of the narration.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Leslie North. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

    BLURB
Star quarterback Marcus Kingston lives and breathes football. He’s trusted his abilities and instincts to get him this far, but an injury last season nearly ended his career. When his coaches want him to wear biofeedback technology to analyze his game, Marcus thinks the idea is ridiculous. Plus, the mousy scientist behind the project knows nothing about sports, and she quickly gets under his skin. But with another QB waiting on the sidelines, Marcus can either agree to participate, or be benched—permanently.

Scientist Clare Wynifred values intellect above most things. With her brain constantly working, she has little interest in her appearance and zero interest in sports. She never imagined her wearable tech being used to improve someone’s game, but its success with the team could get her a military contract. Clare may be too late to save her brother, but her technology could save the lives of countless soldiers. She just has to make it work with the stubborn quarterback, and she’ll be one step closer to her goal.

Marcus and Clare butt heads at first, but their mutual attraction quickly grows. And yet, with everything to lose, it’s easy to ignore that together they might be able to go the distance.

Audiobook Tour - Heartborn (Heartborn, #1) by Terry Maggert narrated by Julia Whelan

    Heartborn
    Heartborn, #1
    by Terry Maggert
    Narrator: Julia Whelan
    Length: 6 hours 20 minutes
    Release date: October 3rd 2016
    Publisher: Terry Maggert2016
    Genre: Fantasy
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . HEARTBORN (Heartborn, #1) . . . Falling the journey of Livvy and Keiron as they sought the truth of her heart, his need to save her, his power to save her and the depth of someone to love and die for another.

A being of love, light, power, strength, purity, yet capable of violence, deception, lies. How do these things work together? How do they not tear a soul apart? Keiron was of the heavenly realm. He was more than should have every graced the Earth below. Until the day he stumbled in to a world where there was something more. Some one more, Livvy.

This read for me was more than just about the angels or their struggle. This read gave me a look at a girl and a boy (man) and their relationship on a level so pure, sweet, innocent, and real. There was the story of pure love, total sacrifice, and beauty of life and living.
The emotions evoked were real and heartfelt. The pacing was just right. The sweetness of it all made for a read that could be shared and discussed with family. This was a fantastical tale of love, sacrifice, innocence, and beautiful relationships built on friendship.

Narrative Review of . . . HEARTBORN (Heartborn, #1) . . . The cadence of this read was more and different than I was expecting. The cadence of the narrator kept pace with the way that I had read the book the first time. It was precise. I found the audio quality to be clear and crisp. I found not repetitions or lag times. I found that Julia made the read feel more real. I could feel the emotions of it more. I found my imagination become more sparked with imagery. I loved that when changing the speed of the narration the quality was still there and the impact of her voice still resonated through.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Terry Maggert. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

    BLURB
    Her guardian angel was pushed.

Keiron was never meant to be anything other than a hero. Born high above in a place of war and deception, he is Heartborn, a being of purity and goodness in a place where violence and deceit are just around every corner.

His disappearance will spark a war he cannot see, for Keiron has pierced the light of days to save a girl he has never met, for reasons he cannot understand. Livvy Foster is seventeen, brave, and broken. With half a heart, she bears the scars of a lifetime of pain and little hope of survival.
    Until Keiron arrives.

In the middle of a brewing war and Livvy’s failing heart, Keiron will risk everything for Livvy, because a Heartborn’s life can only end in one way: Sacrifice.

Fall with Livvy and Keiron as they seek the truth about her heart, and his power, and what it means to love someone who will give their very life to save you.

Top 10 Critics that Helped Move Your Work Further

The best kinds of criticism (for me) have one or more of the following elements:

    1.     Is it honest?
    2.     Did the reader really dig into my book? Sometimes I’ll learn things about my OWN BOOK; that’s how thorough people can be. It’s thrilling to see it through their eyes.
    3.     Why did they dislike something? Often, I can learn about my own tendencies this way. It makes be look at that part of the book from a different angle.
    4.     Why did they like something, and was their too much of it? Sometimes, writers overdo a theme.
    5.     Did the language sound right? Does my seventeen year old character sound real, or does she sound like me? (That would be bad. I was seventeen a long time ago. Heh.)
    6.     Did they understand the hints? I leave Easter Eggs through every book. How many did they find, and how easy were they to put together? I want a balance.
    7.     Did they hate my villain?
    8.     Did they understand why the villain was bad? Sometimes, villains are more complicated than simply being opposed to the hero.
    9.     Did they laugh? This is the second most important thing for me. I want them to feel the joy and laughter that I feel from my characters.
    10. Did they cry? This is the most important. I cry every single time I write a book. Sometimes, I see where the book is going and ask myself if I really want to do this. If I’m not upset, or happy, or angry, then the reader won’t be. That’s writing in three dimensions, for me. Yes, it’s on a page, but there should be a storm of emotion there-- because that’s what I’m feeling when I write it down. I want my readers to feel the wind and the rain and the sun when it finally breaks through. If they do, I know I”m doing the right thing.

    Length: 7 hours 17 minutes
    Publisher: Ellie Ashe
    Genre: Mystery/Thriller
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . LUCKY PENNY (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #3) . . . Cozy mysteries meet Chick-Lit meet fun and romance all brought in to set pace for this new Miranda Vaughn Mystery set in the beautiful depths of Lake Tahoe. There was so much to enjoy here. Miranda has a new job. That gets entangled or complicated by the addition of a film crew, actors, FBI, bubbly assistance, and a mystery surrounding the Lucky Penny Casino. What was supposed to be a simple accounting/analysis job turns out to be a mystery Miranda cannot resist.

A fully engaged reading that gave me a cozy mystery, intriguing deceit, unapologetic chick-lit, subtle romance, and a run for someone money.  I have loved getting to know Miranda and Jake better over the course of the three books thus far. I have enjoyed the dynamics added by the new added characters that makes for the mystery of the beautiful setting.

The Narrator . . . of LUCKY PENNY (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #3) . . . Terri Schnaubelt has returned as the narrator for the third book in the Miranda Vaughn Mysteries series.  I cannot say it enough that this narrator has this character pinned down and executed perfectly. With each new read I fall more and more for this series. I find her voice makes the difference for me. I love the addition of the characters this time around. It allowed for Terri to add on the quirks of the different range for the secondary characters. There was no mistaking one person for another. It was clear with the distinction in the voice. I love Terri’s performance. Another delicious performance with new and exciting characters that enhance the listening.

Perched above the crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe, the Whispering Pines Resort & Spa is a local landmark and a popular destination for the rich and famous who are stressed out from being rich and famous. And down on the water’s edge is the Lucky Penny Casino—an abandoned shell of a once-stylish casino. Max Emmerson, the owner of the Whispering Pines Resort, used to own the Lucky Penny, and he wants it back. Miranda’s job is to get Max’s finances in order so he can borrow the money to buy the casino, and make sure nothing jeopardizes his gaming license. Easy, right?

But the nice boring accounting job spirals out of control with the addition of a Hollywood film crew, an underground gambling ring, and Jake going undercover at the resort as a newlywed—with another woman. As Miranda and Jake each dive into their investigations, they can’t deny their growing feelings for each other. But it’s more important than ever that they keep their attraction hidden. Especially since someone at the resort is watching them very closely, and is willing to do just about anything to keep them from uncovering the truth.

    Publisher: Ellie Ashe
    Genre: Mystery/Thriller
The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . CHASING THE DOLLAR (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #1) . . . Humor, mystery, and some intrigue. This was a woman’s show. She had to prove that she was innocent even after being acquitted. The proof of her innocent was left in her hands. She had to find the truth. She lost too much. Suspicious clung to her like a thick grey cloud on a rain fogged day. Miranda finds herself on a mission to find out who and why she was framed for something she did not do. Along the way she finds more than just the truth.  She finds a friend, ally, and a bigger problem than the missing $37 million.

Miranda was a character that you could easily be drawn to and the situations she found herself in. This was an up-n-down ride of highs and lows in her adventures to find the truth. Accusations and bullet flew through this one. The trips to one place or another did not stop her pursuer. She had to find out who and why. Along the way, she never expected or counted on the FBI. Even with Jakes working the case his own way they seem to find themselves working together a lot. Much happens in the process of getting answer. There are those that don’t want those answers to be found.

The Narrator . . . of CHASING THE DOLLAR (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #1) . . . Terri Schnaubelt had me drawn in to the world of Miranda Vaughn with her cadence that put me at ease. I loved the flow she provided with the various notes in her voice pitch and tone. I found the quality of the audio was smooth and professional. The timing was just what I needed.

The Book Junkie Reads . . . Review of . . . DROPPING THE DIME (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #2) . . . More humor, mystery, some intrigue, and a bit of romance on the side. This time the show was not all one woman, but you still got a very big dose of Miranda. I enjoyed having more of Jake. There antics at the resort that were just what was needed to make this a little fun and play. The mystery around the embezzled funds just grew into much more than it started out being. The simple investigation take Miranda on another wild adventure. This time the ride was a bit less hazardous to one safety and health. I guess that would depend on how you look at things. The action was not as consuming as in the first one, but for a cozy mystery I do like it with a bit less action more who, what, why, how. Miranda worked to get her mystery solved and the bad people put in their place. This was a good read for me.
The Narrator . . . of DROPPING THE DIME (Miranda Vaughn Mysteries, #2) . . . Terri Schnaubelt had returned and gave me another good read that gave me more of reason to fall a bit more in love with Miranda and the mysteries she kept stumbling into. Terri made the cadence simple and steady. The ease of things allowed for the flow from scene to scene to be seamless. As with the first audio in this series, I found the quality smooth and professional. The timing was just what was needed to carry this second installment over.

USA Today best-selling author Ellie Ashe has always been drawn to jobs where she can tell stories—journalist, lawyer, and now writer. Writing quirky romantic mysteries is how she gets the "happily ever after" that so often is lacking in her day job.

When not writing, you can find her with her nose in a good book, watching far too much TV, or trying out new recipes on unsuspecting friends and family. She lives in Northern California with her husband and three cats, all of whom worry when she starts browsing the puppy listings on petfinder.com.

    MY INTERVIEW WITH ELLIE ASHE
How would you describe your style of writing to someone that has never read your work?
Fun and funny mysteries with a dash of romance.

What are some of your writing/publishing goals for this year?
I am working on Running the Numbers, Miranda Vaughn Mysteries #4, and I think it will be released later this year. And I always have other projects in various stages that I want to get back to.

Do you feel that writing is an ingrained process or just something that flows naturally for you?
I can’t imagine not writing stories, so in that way, it feels like a very natural process. I don't really understand people who don’t dream up fictional characters and plots and then spend time trying to express it just the right way. But the drive to tell a story might be natural, the craft of telling a story is very much learned. And I love learning how to improve my writing, whether that’s through podcasts, classes, or books, or just by reading authors whose work I admire.

Do you have a character that you have been working on for a long time that still isn't quite ready, but fills you with excitement to work on the story?
Yes, I do! Her name is Autumn and she makes the WORST decisions. So of course, I love her. I’m still not sure what will come of her story, but I always enjoy spending time with her.

Can you share you next creative project(s)? If yes, can you give a few details?
